Student Day in the Era of the Covid-19 Pandemic Udayana University was Attended by 6,192 Participants, Presenting the Head of BNN RI as One of the Speaker
Jimbaran - After participating in the PKKMB, new students from Udayana University took part in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era Student Day activity which took place online through the webex application, Thursday (12/8/2021). Student Day activities aim to prepare and accelerate new students in the transition process related to student activities and campus policies so that they can support the success of their studies at Udayana University. This transition period can also be used as a momentum to introduce the programs of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology, one of which is the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) program. Besides that, Student Day activities are also used as a momentum in an effort to instill attitudes and behaviors that are based on love for the homeland, defend the country, character education and concern for the surrounding environment in order to create a superior, independent and cultured generation. The Student Day, which was opened directly by the Chancellor of Unud, lasted for two days, 12-13 August 2021.
Vice Rector for Student Affairs Unud Prof. Dr. Ir. I Made Sudarma, MS as the Chair of the Organizing Committee in his report said that the Covid-19 Pandemic Era Student Day is a series of activities to introduce campus life for new students (PKKMB) which is routine and must be followed by new students in an effort to accelerate the process of adapting students to the new environment. and provide provisions for success in pursuing higher education. The expected result of the implementation of this student day is that new students can understand and recognize their new environment, especially the organization and structure of higher education, learning and student systems. As well as the creation of friendship and kinship between students, educators and education staff. The number of participants for Student Day 2021 is 6,192 students, consisting of 5,721 new students and 471 old students.
The implementation of Student Day in 2021 is slightly different from before, both regarding the committee, materials, methods, and duration of activities. This was done to follow the letter of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology. The theme of Student Day 2021: "Strengthening Education, Advancing Culture to Realize Competitive, Innovative and Character Human Resources in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Era in a New Era Order".
Rector of Unud Prof. Dr. dr. A.A Raka Sudewi, Sp.S (K) in his speech said that being a student means entering a new phase of life, forming identity as a whole person through higher education. Student day is presented carefully so that it can be used as a momentum for new students to get the right information about the education system in universities, both academic and non-academic. Student day is also expected to become an awareness of the things that can hinder the study of new students, including those that can hinder the achievement of national goals such as problems of radicalism, terrorism, drug abuse, sexual violence, plagiarism, corruption, and others. Through this student day, students are introduced to Udayana University so that it doesn't take too much time to adapt.
The materials that will be delivered on Student Day 2021 include Cinta Udayana which is packaged in the form of a Video; Prevention of Intolerance, Radicalism, Terrorism by Zainal Abidin, SIK., M.Si Director of Intelligence and Security at the Bali Police; Prevention of Drug and Drug Abuse by Commissioner General of Police Dr.Drs.Petrus Reinhard Golose,M.M. Head of BNN of the Republic of Indonesia; Student Activities (MBKM implementation) by the Head of the Udayana Student Creative Center Unit; Health Services by the Head of the Health Service Unit; Counseling Services by the Head of the Counseling Service Unit; Scholarship Services by the Chair of the Scholarship Management Unit; Introduction to Ormawa and SMEs is packaged in the form of a video; Introduction to cultural values, ethics, manners, norms of campus life, plagiarism by: Prof.Dr.Ir.I Gde Pitana, M.Sc; Prevention of sexual harassment and bullying on campus by Prof.Dr.dr. Wimpie Pangkahila, Sp.And; Tips for success/Learning Motivation and Building an Entrepreneurial Spirit by Kadek Eka Citrawati, PT. Bali Alus; and the Digital Society, skilled and wise in communicating through social media by Dr. Ni Made Ras Amanda Gelgel, S.Sos., M.Si.
On the second day of the Udayana University Student Day activities, materials related to the introduction of student organizations (Ormawa) and Student Activity Units (UKM), videos of outstanding student journeys as motivation, MBKM implementation by the USCC Chair Dr. I Ketut Sardiana, Prevention of sexual harassment and bullying on campus by Prof. Wimpie Pangkahila, Tips for success/motivation to learn and build an entrepreneurial spirit by Ni Kadek Eka Citrawati, ST from PT Bali Alus Botanical, and materials on Digital society, skilled and wise in communicating through social media by Dr. Wimpie Pangkahila. Ni Made Ras Amanda Gelgel.
On the second day of Student Day, there was also a video screening of Udayana Exploration and Student's Pulpit which contained narrative readings by representatives of new students from each of the 13 faculties who raised topics according to the fields/disciplines of their respective faculties.
Student Day was closed by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. I Nyoman Gde Antara represented the Rector of Unud. Also present at the closing ceremony were the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Vice Chancellor for General Affairs and Finance, Deans, Postgraduate Director, Head of SPI and Institutional Leaders, Head of Bureau, Head of USDI and other invitees within Udayana University. In a series of closing events, new students were also handed over to the faculty leaders.
