Udayana University Collaborates with the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Ministry of Agriculture

Udayana University cooperated with the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture which was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by both parties at the Swiss Bell Hotel Tuban, Bali, Tuesday (07/28/2020).

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by the Director General of Animal Husbandry and Health Dr. Drh. I Ketut Diarmita, M.P. On this occasion the Chancellor of Udayana University was represented by the Vice Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation and Information Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Wyasa Putra, SH., M.Hum. Also present at the event were the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University and the Head of the Veterinary Center, Head of the Agriculture and Food Crops Office and the Head of the Ngurah Rai Quarantine Station.

Cooperation between the two parties will be focused on human resource development, science and technology as well as accelerating the implementation of development programs in the field of animal husbandry and animal health.

Director General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health I Ketut Diarmita in his direction conveyed that in order to meet the protein needs of these animals need attention. In Bali itself there is a Bali Cow germplasm that must be protected and preserved, then the need for meat consumption to support tourism and this is an opportunity for the community. If this treatment is carried out conventionally and no breakthroughs are made, they will be left behind.

Support from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Animal Husbandry at Udayana University is urgently needed to play an active role and work together with related agencies as it has great potential to produce superior livestock. The Director General is ready to support the research needs that can be done by the University through the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Animal Husbandry. This cooperation should be followed up with concrete efforts that can be done. Synergy between the Directorate General and the University in the future is expected to run smoothly. The Director General also expressed his appreciation for the fabric of cooperation carried out and hoped that the efforts made could make a real contribution in increasing animal protein to the people and society in Indonesia.

While the Vice Chancellor Prof. IB Wyasa Putra on the occasion said that the signing of the agreement was delayed due to the existing conditions and conditions. Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor conveyed three basic mindsets and it was an obligation for universities to realize their educational goals, namely the Tridharma of Higher Education. Through Tridharma, Unud wants to present the best performance and achievements for the nation and state community. This achievement certainly cannot be done alone but needs to be in synergy with government and non-government institutions both at home and abroad.

Cooperation in the lower order within the scope of the Director General of PKH in Bali has been established informally. Many things have been done together such as research, education and community service. Many human resources in PKH study at Udayana University, as well as research. Some research has been produced thanks to the collaboration between HR at Udayana University with HR within the scope of PKH. Lately the fields of animal husbandry and animal health play a very important strategic role in the nation's development. The higher demand for animal protein requires an increase in livestock productivity. Likewise, various animal diseases that affect the quality and quantity of animal protein require solutions that deserve good treatment. This animal disease not only impacts animal health, but also causes problems in human health.

The Vice Chancellor welcomed the Memorandum of Understanding between Udayana University and the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health, so that it would be beneficial for both parties to improve HR, Science and Technology, and the Acceleration of the Implementation of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Development Programs.
